School Bus to CampusStudents have the option of travelling to the Windsor Campus and back by school bus. The cost of using this service is $150 USD per semester, and students will be given a bus pass which is required to have access to this method of transportation. However, students are able opt out of this service by talking to administration. Please note: by opting out of this bus service, you will not be allowed on the bus for classes for that semester, but can still take the bus for school-related events.
The major route busses take are through the main student-housing areas (ie. Frigate Bay, Bird Rock, and Lime Kiln). Each area has designated areas where students will need to wait to be picked up. For the current semester, MD students are picked up at 8:30am while Premed students are picked up at 9:00am. If the bus is missed in the morning then you are required to find your own method of transportation to campus. For more information, you can click here to visit the Bus Service page on the campus website. |

H-Bus
Public Transportation on the island is known as an H-Bus, and all H-Busses can be recognized by a green license plate beginning with an "H." H-Busses follow a specific route and majority are not allowed into Frigate Bay, and the rate varies on the distance you are travelling. For example, travelling from Campus to Town costs 3.00 EC per person one way.
There are a few who have permission to come pick up / drop off students in Frigate Bay, and you will be required to call these drivers to arrange a time and place to be picked up and dropped off. We advise you call approx. 30 - 40 minutes in advance an confirm the price with the H-Bus Driver. Currently, there is only one H-Bus Driver who is willing to provide this service:

Car Rental Services
Preliminary Information: Before renting a car, you are required to purchase a temporary drivers license from the Traffic Department in town. The cost is $24 USD ($62.50 EC) for 3 months, or $65 USD ($125.00 EC) for 1 year. The application can be obtained from the department, and you are required to bring a valid driver's license from your home country, as well as a secondary photo ID (ex. passport). Please note that you will be driving on the left hand side of the road (British system), and seat belts are to be worn at all times by everyone in the car. If you are caught not abiding by the laws of the island and are given a ticket, you will have to go to the Magistrate Court House in order to pay the fee. Remember that while you are on the road you are representing Windsor University, so please drive responsibly.
Renting from a local business is definitely an option that you can look into, though very expensive. Some rental services will also aid you in purchasing a temporary license. Please click here for a list of businesses along with their contact information. |
You are also able to rent from a private dealer. This is the most common option chosen by students who opt out from the school bus service. Please make sure that all the paperwork for the car is up-to-date (ex. insurance papers and car sticker). If stopped by the police, the person driving will be held responsible for driving a car with expired information, not the private dealer. Furthermore, please thoroughly check the car before finalizing the rental (ex. check tire threads, engine oil, ask how often the private dealer will service the car, dents/scratches, etc.). Also discuss with the private dealer of a back-up car in-case the car stops working or becomes unsafe to drive (ex. engine failure, car accident). We recommend you take pictures of the car prior to driving off as proof of the condition of the car in case of any dispute that may arise between yourself and the private dealer. The average price of cars for rent via private dealers is $400 - 500 USD per month. Many private dealers also require you to put in a deposit of the same amount as one month's rent upfront, which should be given back to you by the end of the rental agreement. Here is a list of private dealers you can call as well as a small review
(Not recommended) - Purchasing a car is very risky as it will be up to you to take time out to take care of the car, such as servicing the car, fixing any damages, etc. Local mechanics tend to take their time with servicing/fixing issues and will try to take advantage car parts (and replace them with older usable parts) if you choose to be absent for these services. Also trying to sell the car prior to leaving also proves to be a difficult challenge. There have been many issues in the past regarding purchasing a car on the island, hence we recommend you look into the other alternate options listed.
- Gabby: 869-763-2887
- He a really nice guy who does regular maintenance on his own cars. If something more major happens to the car and you're not able to drive it (ex. dead battery), he tries his best to come to you as soon as he can (usually within an hour) to fix the car. If he cannot get it fixed at that time or is not able to come, then he always has the car ready for you by around 6-7am the following morning. Gabby's rental price is approx. $300 USD, but his cars are much older which is a turn off for a lot people.

- Henle (he is also a security guard at Angelus): 869-762-7954
- Since this is a number more recently obtained, there is not much review that can be said about him. He is a nice and understanding person who has a decent history of working on cars. He will also detail the interior of any car upon request for $100.00 EC. His rental price ranges from $400 - 500 USD per month.
- Irfan: 869-763-1580 (alt: 869-763-1614)
- He is a local Muslim brother whose cars are in fairly decent condition and fixes majority of car issues by himself. However since he is not native to the island, taking the car to a local mechanic for more major fixes end up taking longer than expected since the local mechanics will try to take advantage of non-locals. His renting price ranges from $400 - 450 USD per month, and requires the car for a couple of hours every other weekend for regular servicing to ensure quality (ex. oil change, tire checks, filter checks, etc.).

Marriott's Taxi Service
This option is available to anyone on the island, especially those living in Frigate Bay as it is walking distance away from Angelus, Royals, and Sugar Bay. If you live outside of Frigate Bay, you will be required to call Marriott for their taxi service. This is not the best method to use as a regular means of transportation as it is very expensive depending on the distance you travel. For example, travelling from the Marriott to Windsor Campus costs $25 USD one way. Though the busses follow a strict and very high-end standard upheld by Marriott, we recommend using this as a last resort due to pricing. Taxi's can be recognized by their yellow license plate beginning with "T" or "TA."
