Support us in building a House of AllahAlhamdulillah, the St. Kitts Masjid Project has made significant progress in the past few months. Along with progress there have also been significant improvements to the original plans that will greatly benefit our Muslim community in the short and long term, inshaAllah.
The Windsor MSA and the Islamic Organization of St. Kitts (IOSK) will be partnering with various organizations of USA, Canada, UK, Nigeria, and especially Jamia Darul Uloom Gasparillo of Trinidad (JDU Gasparillo) for all future developments in St. Kitts. JDU Gasparillo is an institute of Islamic education in Trinidad and they are also working in Antigua for the development of that community's first masjid. They will be providing their resources and experience and InshaAllah such a wonderful partnership will help Islam flourish in St. Kitts! Short termUntil we establish the masjid, we are renting two apartments in Angelus, rooms 113 and 114, to be used as a musullah for US$800 a month. Jummah donations are first applied towards the musullah in order to pay the MSA/IOSK portion of the rent, and the remainder will be applied towards the masjid & MSA expenses. Alhumdulillah in Ramadan 2012, JDU Gasparillo has sent a Qari and his family to St. Kitts to lead taraweeh salaat and educate the students and local Muslims. Alhumdulillah at the Musullah, nearly all five prayers are held with a jamaat everyday. Friday prayers are held every Friday. There are weekly Halaqas (Friday's or Saturday's) after Isha. Long termMoving forward, our goal is to construct a masjid with space for school, recreational facilities and living quarters for an Imam and his family. The Imam will be an Alim sent to St. Kitts by JDU Gasparillo inshaAllah.
Alhamdulillah, the MSA/IOSK have already collected over US$100,000 for the development of the masjid over the last eight years. After using US$77,000 towards the purchase of 16,522.7 sq ft of land beside St Kitts (SKB) airport, we have about US$45,000 left. We need additional US$75,000 to initiate the construction of masjid. InshaAllah, the Windsor MSA/IOSK will be coordinating with Jamia Darul Uloom Gasparillo of Trinadad and various organizations from US, Canada, UK, Nigeria, and other countries in raising funds and successful completion of the establishment of first masjid on St Kitts island.
